Formation and dissociation of protonated cytosine–cytosine base pairs in i-motifs by ab initio quantum chemical calculations

Formation and dissociation mechanisms of C-C＋ base pairs in acidic and alkaline environments are investigated, employing ab initio quantum chemical calculations. Our calculations suggest that, in an acidic environment, a cytosine monomer is first protonated and then dimerized with an unprotonated cytosine monomer to form a C-C＋ base pair; in an alkaline environment, a protonated cytosine dimer is first unprotonated and then dissociated into two cytosine monomers. In addition, the force for detaching a C-C＋ base pair was found to be inversely proportional to the distance between the two cytosine monomers. These results provide a microscopic mechanism to qualitatively explain the experimentally observed reversible formation and dissociation of i-motifs.     

Low-Temperature Electrolyte Design for Lithium-Ion Batteries: Prospect and Challenges

Lithium-ion batteries have dominated the energy market from portable electronic devices to electric vehicles. However, the LIBs applications are limited seriously when they were operated in the cold regions and seasons if there is no thermal protection. This is because the Li+ transportation capability within the electrode and particularly in the electrolyte dropped significantly due to the decreased electrolyte liquidity, leading to a sudden decline in performance and short cycle-life. Thus, design a low-temperature electrolyte becomes ever more important to enable the further applications of LIBs. Herein, we summarize the low-temperature electrolyte development from the aspects of solvent, salt, additives, electrolyte analysis, and performance in the different battery systems. Then, we also introduce the recent new insight about the cation solvation structure, which is significant to understand the interfacial behaviors at the low temperature, aiming to guide the design of a low-temperature electrolyte more effectively.     

A modified procedure for synthesis of the side chain of ceftazidime-activated thioester

A modified procedure for synthesis of the side chain of ceftazidime-activated thioester has been established. This key intermediate of ceftazidime was obtained by a more eco-friendly process than conventional methods, and the yield was much higher (up to 92.4 %). It was found that different organic bases (triethylamine or pyridine) used in this reaction had different effects. The reaction conditions were also optimized to make the route more competitive and suitable for large-scale industrial production.     

Strong Convergence Theorems for the Generalized Viscosity Implicit Rules of Asymptotically Nonexpansive Mappings in the Intermediate Sense in Hilbert Spaces

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to introduce the generalized viscosity implicit rules of one asymptotically nonexpansive mapping in the intermediate sense in Hilbert spaces. We obtain some strong convergence theorems under certain assumptions imposed on the parameters. We also give a numerical example to support our main results. The results obtained in this paper improve and extend many recent ones in this culture.     

Titanium Trichloride Reactions: Dehalogenation

We have recently established preparative procedures for titanium(III) reduction of sulfoxides to sulfides¹ and nitroarenes to amines.² In continuation of this program which is aimed at exploring the synthetic potential of titanium(III) ion, we have found that α-haloketones undergo facile dehalogenation upon treatment with titanium trichloride.     

一系列萘羧酸膦酸镧系配合物的合成、结构和荧光性质

在溶剂热条件下，5-羧酸-1-萘膦酸（5-pncH₃）和稀土硝酸盐反应合成得到3例萘羧酸膦酸镧系配合物：[Pr （5-pnc）（H₂O）]·2H₂O （1）、[Sm （5-pnc）（H₂O）]·H₂O （2）和[Eu （5-pnc）（H₂O）]·H₂O （3）。采用单晶X射线衍射、粉末X射线衍射、元素分析、红外光谱、热重分析和荧光光谱对配合物进行了表征。晶体结构表明，每个七配位的镧系离子由来自5个膦酸盐配体的6个O原子和来自1个配位水分子的一个O原子配位。[LnO₇]通过O—C—O、O—P—O或—O—单元连接成一维双金属链结构，一维双金属链再进一步由萘羧酸膦酸配体（5-pnc^3-）连接成三维开放骨架结构。荧光性质研究表明，配合物3在330 nm的激发光下，发射Eu的红色特征荧光，而配合物1和2在蓝光区显示出非常宽的配体中心发射带。     

On the Webster Scalar Curvature Problem on the CR Sphere with a Cylindrical-Type Symmetry

By variational methods, for a kind of Webster scalar curvature problems on the CR sphere with cylindrically symmetric curvature, we construct some multi-peak solutions as the parameter is sufficiently small under certain assumptions. We also obtain the asymptotic behaviors of the solutions.
